The Duffins are a Glasgow-based indie rock duo made up of husband-and-wife musician collaborators, Paul Duffin and Clare Duffin. Blending warm distortion with melodic sensibility, their sound sits somewhere between modern alt-indie rock and retro-vibed guitar music, likely appealing to fans of Catfish and the Bottlemen, Glasvegas, Arctic Monkeys and Sam Fender.
In a previous life, The Duffins were half of Scottish indie band Suspire, where they performed across the UK on stages large and small; in TV performances (STV and Canadian TV Channel 6), live radio performances (BBC Radio Scotland) and on international tour dates in Lyon, Saint Etienne and Vancouver.
Their live sets are a rhythmic interplay of emotionally resonant songwriting with their craft balancing a sense of grit with vulnerability. Their work explores themes of identity, connection, and everyday resilience, delivered through jangly guitar textures, lively drums, and a distinctly Scottish musical character.
Operating independently through their own label, 33 Thrums, the duo take a hands-on approach to their creativity —from recording and production through to visual storytelling and release strategy. Their collaborative ethos has resonated with established directors and creatives to produce compelling visual accompaniments to their music, including working with short-film director Gareth Malone (Fly-Tipping, Plaster) and the award-winning TV director, Michael Hines (Still Game, Chewin’ the Fat). The band plan to produce more filmed content with both directors during the making of their debut album.
